Sean, what's your take on whether to own your home outright in retirement or play the mortgage game and have that cash available? I have family members who own outright and swear by it.

I think it has to do more with your risk tolerances and your overall net worth aside from your home. The most conservative path is to pay it off and live mortgage free. However, if one has a liquid net worth that's far more than their house payments for a number of years, then they could choose to pay it off or keep the money invested in things that may go up in value more than the interest they save on mortgage interest. Neither is a right or wrong but the latter carries a bit more risk than the former.

You're welcome.
